Rainforest Scarf

I can show you this birthday present now because the receiver is out of internet contact for a while. I haven't posted it yet (naughty) but can't wait any longer to show you.

One skein rainforest scarf for H.

My intention was just to make a one-skein curly green number for H. But once it was finished, it looked so much like a vine, that I couldn't not add a few flowers. Especially since H is spending the next 5 weeks in the rainforest. So apt.

Yarn: 1 skein, Cascade 220 in green. Plus some colours from my stash for the flowers.
Hook: G 4.25mm
Pattern: Picot flowers, from SkaMama here

Scarf I kind of made up myself! I tried to use the whole skein so some craft math was used.

Chain 250
Row 1) Chain 2. Turn and dc in 3rd st from hook. Dc in every st till the end of the row. (250 stitches total)
Row 2) Chain 2, turn. 2 x dc in the top of every dc till the end of the row (500 stitches total)
Row 3) Chain 2, turn. 2 x dc in the top of every dc till the end of the row (1,000 stitches total)

(1,750 stitches in total)

At the end of row 3 bind off and sew in end. Annnndddd you're done.

When making the flowers make sure to leave enough yarn at the end to use for sewing the flowers to the "vine". Attach the flowers at random intervals or evenly across the scarf. Up to you. I personally tried it on and then pinned the flowers so none would be lost at the back of the neck. That depends on which way you wear it though.

Also there was a small amount of green left at the end, so you could potentially make some leaves to attach too.

Try on. Look awesome.

PS: No one tell H that you have seen this. Supposed to be a surprise.
PPS: Anyone know H's Mum's address? I can't really send this to the rainforest. Email me please xx
