Pinterest

Hello there!

I know, I know. Its been a while. I could list a whole variety of reasons (slow craft season due to the heat, crazy at day-work, new computer) but the main reason is that I broke my camera while I was in NZ and haven't been able to replace it yet. And what is a craft-blog post without a picture? A little bit boring, that's what.

So, until I can scrounge up the funds for a new point and shoot, if you are missing me you can follow me over on Pinterest. Pinterest is a new online inspiration board type site, where users can "pin" pictures etc to their "boards". Its very addictive and hugely time consuming, so perfect for procrastinating. My favourite.

Some pretty famous bloggers are over there pinning up a storm, which is awesome because you can "re-pin" anything you like to your own boards.

Check it out if you are one of those people constantly saving images or ripping pages out of books.

Here is what one of my boards look like, to give you an idea.

Like I said, what is a craft post without a picture...

PS: Leave me a comment if you would like to be invited to Pinterest. It's invite only and I have 7 left. Otherwise it takes a few days, if you request an invite.

New House Inspiration...

... or house porn as some like to call it. I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want my new apartment to be like. Now that I live by myself (yay!) I can have whatEVER I like.

A daunting and exciting proposition.

So since the budget for this home-reno is $0 I have been doing more imagining, than shopping.

Here are some pics that I have found inspiring. Can you spot the theme?

Apologies but I have lost pretty much all of the credit links for these photos (collected over a long period of time... sorry!).

It's just a starting off point, really. Let me know what you think!

Back tomorrow with some actual craft! xxx

Hi lovelies!

Take a look at a few cute D.I.Y. projects that have caught my eye lately... I think I may even try some of them myself, soon.

Happy making!!

Wardrobe Necklace

I am in *heart* with these necklace style, clothes hanging strand things.

So pretty! So flexible! As the Hommin website says, would look great as a divider for a store, also.

Would look great in my dream studio. You would need to make sure your clothes were as pretty as the strand though.

Also I dont think it would be too hard to "be inspired by" as well, if you know what I mean.

Hair you are...

Can you believe that every line in these picture brooches is a strand of the designer's own hair?

I can't.

But it's true.

More here.

Brrrrrr

Happy Friday people. I am all clogged up with a gross cold so am looking forward to a nice long weekend in bed, 4 days yussss. Not much partying on the horizon for me this weekend so I am planning on getting a jump-start on some Xmas treats.

I really want to have a go at some super chunk knits like the ones below...

This one from Olivebrown on Etsy.

And these ones from another Etsy seller Spratters and Jayne.

I miss my 20mm knitting needles!! Anyone know where to get them over here?

Tweet tweet

When I was playing with my aforementioned air-erase pen, I drew up and stitched the below little number, with some bird patterns from the Sublime Stitching book I got for my birthday.

Let me know what you think! The birds are an iron on pattern, and the hearts and crosses are free hand. Since the pen would "air-erase" so quickly I pretty much had to sketch and stitch straight away. So it is a bit different to what I first drew, oh well.

Oh and I got some metallic thread, look how pretty. It was sewwww scratchy to stitch with. Next time I think I'll use less threads, which should give a flatter look.

I hung it up with my other 2 stitching projects, which looked ok...

... until I stepped back. The wall is still a bit bare.

So I think I am going to use the below photo as inspiration and just keep adding things. Still thinking about the pin-board too.

Oh and maybe a poster. Since I am rolling in dough right now...

Woah Man

Look at these amazing paper sculptures from artist Jen Stark. The detail is incredible.

Check out her site for more amazing works.

She does felt tip drawings too. So simple, but so complex.

Pin Boardzz

I have been tossing up for ages, about what to do/put up on the wall above my bed in my apartment. It is boring plain white and since there is nothing on any of the other walls in my room either, I really need to add some interest. I also need somewhere to store little knick-knacks (did I just use the word knick-knacks?) and postcards etc, that don't fit on the fridge.

Also since we are, of course, renting - it needs to be something easily removable.

Soooooooo I think a fabric covered pin-board is in order. I haven't had one of these since I was in Intermediate School (10-12 years old) and by my recollection, it was covered in pictures of Beverly Hills 90210 and NKOTB. How apt that both of these phenoms have been given a 2nd life this year (90210 redux premieres tonight, gasp!). This time around I am thinking a little more classy and practical and of course it has to encorporate some fairy lights.

The following have been inspiring me...

Via Make Something.

Via Quaint Handmade on flickr.

Via ShellsBells2007 on flickr.

Via Allyrish on flickr.

Via Strawbunny on flickr.

Now I just need to source some cork, ribbons, fabric and a staple gun. Should be easy.

Amy Butler Giftwrap and Paper plates.

I l.u.v. the fabric from textile designer Amy Butler, and now she has come out with a range of 100% recycled wrapping paper and paper plates. So cool.

Check them out here.

She also has a bunch of great free patterns for download here. My fave is the Nigella Quilt.
